The word that stalled the council gets sent back with an answer: make it conditional

MGAMBP

Three weeks after the City Council sent Ordinance 2026-04 back over the word “customary,” the Grand Marais Planning Commission gave its answer on October 28: stop trying to define the word in advance, and make the school property’s accessory uses conditional instead.

Planning Commission recommends the one-client nail salon permit, with conditions

MGAMBP
Passed 2–1

Michelle Maldonado asked for a conditional use permit for a one-client-at-a-time home nail salon at 411 2nd Ave West. Neighbors objected. A first motion, to not recommend the permit, died without a second; the commission then voted to recommend approval with conditions, including appointments done by 3:00 p.m. and a delineated client parking space. The commission recommends; the City Council decides.
